SUMMARY:Open Lecture 11 — Non-Terrestrial Networks for 6G: Toward Seamless Network Convergence
DESCRIPTION:The one6G Open Lectures are coming back! After a short break\, the one6G Association is delighted to announce that Open Lecture 11 will take place on January 22\, 2026\, at 14h00 CET\, focusing on one of the most transformative areas of 6G research: Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs) and their role in achieving seamless network convergence. \n\n\n\nNon-terrestrial networks (NTNs) refer to radio access networks where the access nodes are carried on platforms hovering high above the terrestrial surface – in the air or in space – including high-altitude platforms (HAPs)\, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)\, and satellites. While 5G New Radio (NR) was originally designed as a terrestrial network (TN)\, it has since been extended to support NTN components\, expanding coverage for its main services and enabling communication through any network node via the same end device. \n\n\n\nThe vision for 6G goes far beyond this extension. It envisages a full integration of NTN and TN at the network infrastructure level\, leading to true network convergence. In this future\, all radio services could be delivered seamlessly through any node (terrestrial or non-terrestrial) and completely transparent to the user. This paradigm promises to finally realize the longstanding goal of ubiquitous\, resilient\, and borderless connectivity\, ensuring service continuity anytime and everywhere – a promise of mobile radio given ever since its previous generations. \n\n\n\nModerated by Dr. Malte Schellmann\, Principal Research Engineer at Huawei Technologies German Research Center\, one6G Open Lecture 11 will explore the technological\, architectural\, and regulatory aspects of NTN/TN convergence\, its challenges\, and its potential to close global coverage gaps. The event will feature four distinguished speakers who will share insights into the latest research directions\, use cases\, and standardization activities paving the way toward fully integrated 6G networks. Among the speakers will be two 6G-NTN project partners\, Alessandro Vanelli-Coralli (UNIBO) and Miguel Ángel Vázquez (CTTC). \n\n\n\nJoin the lecture on January 22\, 2026\, at 2 p.m. CET to discover how 6G is extending connectivity beyond the Earth’s surface! \n\n\n\nParticipation is free\, but registration is mandatory. Please click the button below to secure your spot.

SUMMARY:4th International Conference on 6G Networking
DESCRIPTION:On behalf of the 6GNet Organizing Committee\, it is our great pleasure to warmly introduce you to The 4th International Conference on 6G Networking (6GNet 2025)\, that is taking place in Paris\, France\, on November 12 – 14\, 2025. \n\n\n\nResearch on 6G is accelerating with multiple initiatives worldwide producing more proof-of-concepts and trials. Traffic forecasts are disrupted by two recent phenomena: the tremendous development of novel everyday services driven by Generative AI and at the same time\, the recent efforts of large traffic generators such as video content providers to optimise video codecs and reduce traffic whilst protecting the end-to-end Quality of Experience (QoE). As a consequence\, business-as-usual exponential traffic growths are challenged\, and network traffic is unusually uncertain. Additionally\, there is a growing concern to take into account the lessons learnt from 5G\, which is still struggling to be monetized in many territories. \n\n\n\nIn such highly dynamic context\, 6G networking is a tremendous opportunity to investigate and foster research in areas like network AI-driven traffic modelling\, network for AI\, network APIs for future services\, the need for massive digital inclusion and stronger robustness against attacks of any kind\, among other challenging topics like global network automation (AI for network)\, delivery and operation. \n\n\n\nThe 6GNet conference will bring together top-notch experts from academia and industry\, including network operators\, to stimulate discussions\, introduce new ideas and thereby contribute to the progress of 6G networking research. \n\n\n\nInterested authors are invited to submit papers presenting novel technical research. \n\n\n\nWe are looking forward for your contribution to a successful conference on the 6G fields! \n\n\n\nMore info here.

SUMMARY:IEEE Global Communications Conference - Workshop on Emerging Topics in 6G Communications
DESCRIPTION:5G networks and devices are now a reality with wide deployment and spread among population\, but the demand for advanced data services as well as beyond-communication services is still booming\, and will soon need for a new generation for wireless/cellular communication\, the 6G. It will be a new standard that not only provides high data rates\, extremely low delay\, large connection density\, but also will enable the integrated sensing and communications as well as AI-native designs. Novel beyond-communication usage scenarios and use cases are envisaged to be supported\, and thus more computation and communication resources may be consumed\, where their optimization is a must. \n\n\n\n6G communications will bring new challenges due to their sensitivity to scenario conditions\, thereby requiring highly adaptive techniques that will adapt fast\, in order to guarantee a satisfactory delay. Spectrum and resources management will be crucial within 6G in order to account for the extremely heterogeneous scenario. The network complexity will also be unprecedented\, due to the very diverse applications such as ultra low latency requirements for critical vehicular communications\, the growing demand of high positioning accuracy for location-based services\, and dense heterogeneous architectures. Several emerging topics are encountered within 6G and this workshop will focus on such emerging topics\, and potential solutions will be presented. Researchers and engineers from academia and industry are invited to submit their recent research results and innovations.
