SUMMARY:ETSI webinar - "Essential Discussions about Non-Terrestrial Networks for 6G"
DESCRIPTION:About this talk\n\nNon-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs) are wireless communication platforms operating above the surface of the Earth\, typically achieved using satellites in low\, medium or geostationary orbit as well as drones\, High Altitude Platforms (HAPS) and other aerial systems. A component of 5G since 3GPP Release 17\, there is now general agreement that future 6G will feature the “native integration” of NTN from the outset. Recognizing the importance of the topic\, ETSI recently held a Conference on ‘Non-Terrestrial Networks\, a Native Component of 6G’ (https://www.etsi.org/events/2306-etsi-ntn-conference#pane-1/). The conference examined NTN use cases\, candidate technologies\, current research status and standardization roadmaps. Due to the intense interest in the 6G and NTN topics\, this ETSI webinar will allow further discussion around the topic as our expert speakers will discuss and develop the priority areas for 6G and NTN. We will encourage strong audience participation during the event where the experts will answer your questions and get your thoughts / feedback on the future directions for NTN in 6G.\n\nThe webinar will be presented by:\n\nModerator: David BOSWARTHICK\, Director New Technologies (NET)\, ETSI\nJavier ALBARES BUENO\, Head of 5G/6G Program\, Smart Network and Services Joint Undertaking\nNicolas CHUBERRE\, 3GPP NTN Rapporteur\, Thales \nMaria Guta\, Senior 5G 6G SatCom Solutions Architect in the European Space Agency (ESA)\nAlessandro Vanelli-Coralli\, 6G-NTN Project Coordinator\n\n\nLearn more and register here!

SUMMARY:one6G - Open Lecture 7 - In-Network Computing and Intelligent User Plane for 6G
DESCRIPTION:Following the success of the previous lectures\, the Association is happy to confirm that Open Lecture 7 will take place on March 21\, 2024\, at 14h00 CET\, covering the subject of In-Network Computing and Intelligent User Plane for 6G. \nAfter mobile edge computing\, the next evolutionary step on the pathway to bring computation even closer to the user is to compute in the network. In-Network Computing (INC) is a promising enabler for 6G with high potential to support meeting the stringent delay requirements of 6G use-cases and applications\, including robotics\, VR gaming\, or remote surgery. Besides latency reduction\, the concept of INC has been proven beneficial for network traffic volume reduction and offloading compute tasks from mobile end-devices to the network. This allows to minimize the devices’ battery drainage and supports the design of more lightweight devices. \nThe one6G Open Lecture 7 will center around the topic of In-Network Computing and Intelligent User Plane for 6G. Four top experts in the field\, representing both academia and industry\, will discuss the state of the art of INC\, including architecture concepts\, current challenges\, and recent advances when it comes to integrating native computing as a key feature into 6G networks. \nLearn more about the event here\nRegister to the event here
