SUMMARY:6G Forum - The Next Leap: Will 6G Deliver?
DESCRIPTION:Is it too early to be talking about 6G? The telco industry seems divided into two camps: those investing heavily in 6G R&D\, advocating for a more energy-efficient\, life-enhancing next generation of networks\, and those skeptical about the actual benefits and ROI of 6G\, especially as the industry still seeks to monetize 5G investments.Beyond the technological challenges\, commercializing 6G and convincing carriers to invest in this new technology present significant hurdles. RCR Wireless News’ virtual 6G Forum will address not only the question of “how do we do it?” but also “why do we need it?”Want to join the event live on October 1st with a variety of panel discussions\, presentations and interviews\, where we will explore? Check the 6G Forum website!

SUMMARY:6GIC-CLICK Featuring Non-Terrestrial Networks - Towards 6G
DESCRIPTION:This exciting event will bring together experts and enthusiasts from the field of Non-Terrestrial Networks\, to discuss the latest advancements and innovations. \n\n\n\nThe demand for mobility\, ubiquitous coverage and resilience has driven communications in 5G and 6G to include NTN. The latter includes multi orbit satellites\, High Altitude Platforms (HAPs) and Aerial devices in the lower troposphere. In 5G and 5G advanced we are already seeing integrated service delivery via cellular and satellite direct to commercial mobile phones heralding a convergence of these sectors. This is being enabled by new 3GPP NTN 5G standards helping to create the new ecosystem. The 5G advanced era will herald large constellations of LEO satellites with on board processing including network functions previously only terrestrial located but now offering direct phone to phone connections without the need for terrestrial infrastructure. As we now move into the period of defining a completely new and unified 6G system\, NTN will play a key role in proving coverage and resilience via an interconnected 3D space network converged with terrestrial networks.

SUMMARY:3rd IEEE Workshop on B5G/6G support for space/air/ground/marine/submarine cooperative\, connected\, and autonomous vehicles (CCAVs)
DESCRIPTION:W2: 3rd IEEE Workshop on B5G/6G support for space/air/ground/marine/submarine cooperative\, connected\, and autonomous vehicles (CCAVs) \nChair: Faouzi Bouali\, Coventry University\, UK \nKeynote Speaker: Fan Liu \, Southern University of Science and Technology\, China\nKeynote Speaker: Alessandro Guidotti\, University of Bologna\, Italy \nAbstract: Cooperative\, connected\, and autonomous vehicles (CCAVs) have attracted tremendous research attention from both academia and industry\, aiming at delivering a “society in motion” featured with unprecedented travel experience and significantly enhanced traffic efficiency and safety. The potential of the fifth generation (5G) of mobile networks to support CCAVs has been established from numerous seminal studies and field trials. From an initial interest in the ground segment to a new trend in exploring other domains (e.g.\, space\, air and water)\, CCAVs have been pivotal to enable ubiquitous\, seamless\, and scalable mobility. In this context\, the aim of this workshop is to assess the capabilities of beyond 5G (B5G) and sixth generation (6G) mobile networks to support CCAVs across all possible (i.e.\, space\, air\, ground\, marine and submarine) segments. First\, the workshop will identify the gaps of the existing 5G solutions in supporting the cooperation\, connectivity\, and autonomy elements of CCAVs. Second\, the workshop will disseminate the latest findings and solutions assessing the capabilities of future B5G/6G networks in filling those gaps arising from a variety of CCAV use cases. Third\, the workshop will analyse and discuss pressing challenges and future trends in the development\, testing and deployment of CCAVs from various perspectives\, including new algorithms\, metrics\, tools\, and materials. \nProgram Information: https://sites.google.com/view/vtc2024-fall-ccavs/home \nChair’s bio: \nFaouzi Bouali \nBio: Dr. Faouzi Bouali is Assistant Professor (Senior Lecturer) in Next-generation communications and Networking with Coventry University\, United Kingdom. He received his PhD in Signal Theory and Communications from the University Polytechnica de Catalunya (UPC)\, Spain in 2013. He served as the “Technical Manager” of the Automotive vertical of the Horizon 2020 5GHEART project (2019-2022; 14.3 M€)\, investigating and trialling the capability of 5G systems to support various industry use cases. Since 2009\, he has been contributing to various research projects funded by the European Commission Horizon 2020 Framework Programme (i.e.\, 5G-HEART\, 5GENESIS and Speed-5G)\, the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (i.e.\, FARAMIR\, OneFIT and HELP) and BT Research. Additionally\, he has been working for over a decade as radio optimization engineer and consultant in various public and private projects. His expertise and research interests span the field of advanced communications and networking with a focus on 5G/B5G/6G/V2X systems and their applications to support connected and automated industries (e.g.\, Automotive\, Factories-of-the-Future\, Ground/Aerial/Marine Transport\, Media & Entertainment\, eHealth and Public Safety)\, advanced radio resource management (RRM)\, architectural innovations for future networks (e.g.\, network slicing and Open RAN) and experimental 5G/6G research and testbeds. He cochaired three successful workshops at IEEE VTC-Spring 2021\, IEEE VTC-Fall 2022 and IEEE VTC-Fall 2023.
