SUMMARY:one6G Summit 2024
DESCRIPTION:  \nScreenshot\nBuilding on the success of the previous three editions\, one6G’s flagship event is coming back to discuss the key drivers and technological pillars that will shape 6G. Just like the 2023 edition\, one6G Summit 2024 will be held in a physical location – this year in sunny Valencia. \none6G Summit 2024 will bring together top experts and innovators from international industry forums\, national and regional policymakers\, and academics from renowned research institutes to discuss how 6G will change the way we live\, work\, and experience the world and how technology\, business\, and policy approaches will converge to lead us toward a hyper-connected world. \nThe speakers will share their insights\, visions\, and roadmaps\, covering subjects ranging from national strategies and regional research and innovation actions to the progress of enabling technologies. The first wave of IMT2030 use cases and requirements will also be discussed\, among other topics. A detailed agenda will be available soon! \nBy hosting three successful editions\, one6G Summit has already established itself as a major platform for expert discussions about challenges\, opportunities\, and progress achieved on the journey toward a hyper-connected world. If you missed the previous editions\, you can review the reports and recordings (links below). \none6G Summit 2024 will be co-located with the IEEE International Symposium on Personal\, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications. \nEvent Chair\n\nNancy Alonistioti\, one6G Chairwoman\, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

SUMMARY:one6G - Open Lecture 8 – Cell-free massive MIMO
DESCRIPTION:Following the success of the previous lectures\, the Association is happy to confirm that Open Lecture 8 will take place on June 20\, 2024\, at 14h00 CEST\, covering the subject of cell-free massive MIMO. \nCurrent wireless standards are evolving toward large-scale massive MIMO deployments. Cell-free massive MIMO (CF-MIMO\, also known as distributed MIMO) is a promising new architecture for future radio access. By moving away from the classical cellular design\, it avoids the problems of cell-edge interference and frequent handovers. This is especially important when transmission-reception points (TRP) and user equipments (UE) are densely distributed. A key feature differentiating cell-free MIMO from previous distributed MIMO architectures is the concept of user-centricity\, which means that each UE can be flexibly connected to individually formed clusters of TRPs. \nThe one6G Open Lecture 8 will feature three top-class speakers who will present and discuss important results\, new possibilities\, and open questions regarding the standardization and commercialization of this new technology. \nLearn more about the event here

SUMMARY:one6G - Open Lecture 7 - In-Network Computing and Intelligent User Plane for 6G
DESCRIPTION:Following the success of the previous lectures\, the Association is happy to confirm that Open Lecture 7 will take place on March 21\, 2024\, at 14h00 CET\, covering the subject of In-Network Computing and Intelligent User Plane for 6G. \nAfter mobile edge computing\, the next evolutionary step on the pathway to bring computation even closer to the user is to compute in the network. In-Network Computing (INC) is a promising enabler for 6G with high potential to support meeting the stringent delay requirements of 6G use-cases and applications\, including robotics\, VR gaming\, or remote surgery. Besides latency reduction\, the concept of INC has been proven beneficial for network traffic volume reduction and offloading compute tasks from mobile end-devices to the network. This allows to minimize the devices’ battery drainage and supports the design of more lightweight devices. \nThe one6G Open Lecture 7 will center around the topic of In-Network Computing and Intelligent User Plane for 6G. Four top experts in the field\, representing both academia and industry\, will discuss the state of the art of INC\, including architecture concepts\, current challenges\, and recent advances when it comes to integrating native computing as a key feature into 6G networks. \nLearn more about the event here\nRegister to the event here
