The 6G-NTN project was proud to take an active role at the EuCNC & 6G Summit 2025, held on 3-6 June in Poznan, Poland. This high-profile event gathered global leaders in the field of telecommunications to explore the path toward 6G and beyond, with 6G-NTN contributing across multiple sessions, workshops, and presentations.
Key Contributions from 6G-NTN
On Tuesday, 3 June, 6G-NTN project coordinator Prof. Alessandro Vanelli-Coralli from the University of Bologna opened the day with a presentation at the workshop titled “Terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks unification towards 6G”. Organised in collaboration with the projects 5G-STARDUST, ETHER, Hexa-X-II, NexaSphere, and several other European Space Agency (ESA) projects, the workshop emphasised the strategic convergence of terrestrial and non-terrestrial infrastructures as a foundation for the future 6G ecosystem.
Later that day, 6G-NTN, in cooperation with 5G-STARDUST, hosted the Tutorial: “NTN (r)evolution: stepping into 6G“. The tutorial offered a comprehensive exploration of the evolving role of Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs) in shaping 6G.
6G-NTN also participated in Workshop 18: “Technology Enablers for Sustainable 6G Design“, alongside 5G-STARDUST and HORSE projects. This workshop examined how NTNs and IoT can:
- Support environmental, social, and economic sustainability in the 6G era
- Be based on sustainable 6G solutions — by design, implementation, and usage, and disposal
On Wednesday, 4 June, 6G-NTN’s Alice Piemonti proudly presented the research paper “A Novel Framework for Proactive CNF Orchestration in 6G NTN.” The paper was co-authored by several 6G-NTN partners: Alice Piemonti (Martel Innovate),Riccardo Campana (University of Bologna), Vito Cianchini (Martel Innovate), Carla Amatetti (University of Bologna), Massimo Neri (Martel Innovate), and our project coordinator Alessandro Vanelli-Coralli (University of Bologna).
By leveraging AI and Machine Learning, the paper’s proposed framework anticipates virtual resource needs, enabling efficient, real-time deployment and scaling of CNFs. This innovative approach ensures optimal allocation of limited Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) resources, paving the way for sustainable and scalable 6G solutions.
In addition to active participation in sessions, the project displayed informative brochures at Martel and ETHER booths in the exhibition area.
About EuCNC & 6G Summit
The EuCNC & 6G Summit 2025 is a major international event combining two prestigious conferences: EuCNC (European Conference on Networks and Communications), supported by the European Commission, and the 6G Summit, launched by the 6G Flagship programme in Finland. Sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP) and the European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP), the event explores all facets of telecommunications—from 5G deployment and IoT innovation to the next frontier of 6G.
With more than 1,000 participants from over 40 countries and an exhibition featuring 50+ exhibitors, the summit serves as a premier platform for research, innovation, and industry collaboration in future communications.
