6G NON-TERRESTRIAL NETWORKS
for the full integration of the NTN component into 6G
What was the 6G-NTN project about?
The Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) can complement the current Terrestrial Network (TN) to enhance the next generation of mobile networks and services. Their integration would improve connectivity for users in unserved and underserved areas, benefiting both consumers and industries.
6G-NTN was a 36-month Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) project that focused on developing and validating key technical, regulatory, and standardisation enablers for integrating NTN and TN components into 6G, with a focus on multidimensional network infrastructure, multi-constraint RANs, and multi-user terminals. The project concluded on December 31, 2025, establishing a foundation of knowledge and tools to support the integration of NTN and TN in future 6G deployments.
