6G-NTN Partner Alessandro Guidotti at the Fifth Visions for Future Communications Summit

6G-NTN partner Alessandro Guidotti from the University of Bologna participated as a distinguished speaker at the Fifth Visions for Future Communications Summit (VFCS), held on 25-26 November 2025 at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Lisbon, Portugal.

The high-level summit, organised by NetworldEurope with support from the 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA), SNS CO-OP, the European Commission, and IEEE, brought together global experts to discuss “Challenges for 2030 and Beyond.” Serving as a key step toward shaping the next Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for the EU and supporting preparations for FP10, the VFCS plays a central role in defining Europe’s long-term research priorities in future communications.

On Day 1, during Session 1: Radio Concerns, chaired by Ari Pouttu, Alessandro presented the vision beyond 6G for Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN). His contribution highlighted opportunities and challenges in NTN design.
The Summit gathered experts from academia, industry, and European institutions to explore forward-looking research areas and collectively shape the future communications landscape. Discussions and presentations will feed into a white paper on seminal research directions, to be distributed widely across the community and used by key stakeholders such as the European Commission and ITU-T.

6G-NTN is proud to contribute to these foundational conversations, reinforcing the project’s commitment to advancing Europe’s leadership in next-generation communications.
